In this review, we will be looking at the following factors…
- Features
- Price
- Customer Satisfaction
- Recommendations
- The Final Word
1. Features
The Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table features an 18mm MDF black or blue playing top, 40mm thick powder coated steel legs and 20mm by 50mm metal heavy gauge edge banding. With the 8 caster wheels, 4 on each side, transporting its heavy 225 pound frame is made easy. It has a playback feature (meaning you can put half of the table up to hit against – if you want to). And it can also be stored away very compact.
18mm Table Top
The Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table offers you an table top that is on the thicker side of tables. Being 18mm you can expect a “truer” bounce from it and that play will be close to competition grade tables.
Ben talk’s a lot more about the importance of table thickness in his comprehensive article The Best Table Tennis Tables but, in short, competition tables are 25mm thick and you really need a table to be 19mm thick in order to get a “decent” bounce.
If you are just looking for a table to use for a bit of fun, recreational table tennis, and maybe a bit of training here and there, then getting the Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table would be a good choice. However, if you are used to playing on “proper” tables, or planning on learning how to play table tennis at a club or perhaps playing competitively, then a 18mm table might not meet your standards.
Sleek design and construction
With each half of the table mounted on 40mm powder coated heavy duty steel legs you can expect this table to be very solid. The 4 wheels on each side, with locking casters, offer easy transport and great safety while playing. Weighing in at 225 pounds the Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table is by no means light and you can see how solid it is because of this.
By all means the Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table is a solid choice. Providing a robust design that easily carries itself and allows for only one person assembly make it a top-notch one. The addition of pockets to hold your bats and balls is also a tiny detail that makes this table great.
The Net
We can’t stress this enough. Having a top notch table with a rubbish net makes the table useless. No one enjoys a flimsy net that sometimes comes undone during play. if you purchase the Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table you get a top class Killerspin net in the package. The net clamps both sides of the table together snugly and has great tension, which you can adjust, meaning you can play great table tennis.
2. Price
The only weakness we found with the Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table is its price. It sells on Amazon.com for $799.00 and we find this a bit pricey for what you actually get.
Don’t get us wrong the table is a great choice for one under $1000. But if you are willing to spend that much on this table we suggest you either save a bit more or go for a cheaper one with almost the same specifications.
3. Customer Satisfaction
The customer reviews on Amazon have been scarce but sounding great. Here are a few of their comments…
“Very solid table and very good looking.”
“We searched for a long time for the right tennis table and couldn’t be happier with our purchase. Great quality and looks very nice!”
4. Recommendations
Is this table right for you?
If you are looking for a table with sleek design for recreational play…
Buy the Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table. The 18mm MDF top gives you good bounce quality and will keep any recreational player happy. The price tag is the only real downside to this table.
If you want a table that is truly “competition-ready”…
You’ll need to invest in a table with at least a 22mm playing surface – but if you are looking at spending $799.00 on a table we have just the one for you!
Our favourite 22mm table, at a reasonable price, is the Butterfly Match 22 Rollaway. For roughly $850 you can buy a high-performance table from the leading brand in table tennis. That’s only $50.00 more than the Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table and we highly recommend you spend that little more.
5. The Final Word
The Killerspin MyT7 table tennis table is a great table, by all means. The playing top with the combined net is a great package. And the pockets add a little extra to it. This being said we just find it to priced to high for what you get. Saving $50 more you could get a competition ready table in the Butterfly Match 22 Rollaway for $849.48 on Amazon.com.
Buy the Killerspin Table Tennis Table MyT7 Pocket on Amazon.com for $799.00- But we recommend getting the Butterfly Match 22 Rollaway on Amazon.com for $849.48
