The Killerspin MyT4 Table Tennis Table features a 15mm MDF playing surface, a powder coated undercarriage to avoid rusting and adjustable levelers with 8 caster wheels. The net system holds both halves of the table together and we found storing the table a breeze.
15mm Table Top
The first weakness we found on the Killerspin MyT4 Table Tennis Table was its 15mm table top. A playing surface this this is really on the thinner side of tables and you can expect the play to be a bit slower and the bounce to lack height as compared to other thicker tables out there.
Ben talk’s a lot more about the importance of table thickness in his comprehensive article The Best Table Tennis Tables but, in short, competition tables are 25mm thick and you really need a table to be 19mm thick in order to get a “decent” bounce.
If you are just looking for a table to use for a bit of fun, recreational table tennis, and maybe a bit of training here and there, then getting the Killerspin MyT4 Table Tennis Table would be a good choice. However, if you are used to playing on “proper” tables, or planning on learning how to play table tennis at a club or perhaps playing competitively, then a 15mm table might not meet your standards.
The Net
The Killerspin MyT4 Table Tennis Table comes with a great net. It would be useless to spend money on a decent table and play with a rubbish net. The Killerspin net and post set hold the two pieces of the table together at the center. It clamps on with precision and holds the two pieces together firmly. Also, the adjustable tension makes for one of the better net systems we have seen out there.
Added Extras
The Killerspin MyT4 Table Tennis Table comes with pockets, as you can see in its name, on both ends of the table. Each pocket holds a bat and 8 regulation balls. We found this a great addition to the package as you can focus more on play and avoid the hassle of having to run everywhere for the ball after each point. When storing the table the pockets are great for your bats and balls so the next time you play you will know exactly where they are.
2. Price
The second weakness we found on the Killerspin MyT4 Table Tennis Table was its price. Costing you $599.00 it is by no means cheap. Being in the price range it is in and having a 15mm table top seems outrageous.
The table is by no means a bad one, we would just like Killerspin to maybe lower the price to be able to compete with the surface thickness it has.
