Killerspin JET400 Ping Pong Paddle Review

The Killerspin JET400 is the cheapest Killerspin paddle to feature ITTF approved table tennis rubbers. It is the fourth paddle in their 8-part JET series. Here is our full review of the racket.

Killerspin JET400 Ping Pong Paddle Review

Killerspin is a fairly new American table tennis brand that has really focused on the recreational ping pong market. They have even labeled their bats/rackets “paddles” to appeal to the basement US audience. Their paddles aren’t cheap but they are well-made, and the best ones are actually pretty decent too.

KILLERSPIN JET400

Here’s everything you need to know about the Killerspin JET400 ping pong paddle…

The paddle features two 1.8mm ITTF approved Killerspin Nitrx-4Z rubbers. This means you could legally use the racket in a sanctioned tournament or league. This is important if you have aspirations of playing competitive table tennis. It also has a cheap 5-ply wood blade.

The following description comes direction from Killerspin…

The Killerspin JET400 table tennis racket brings the level of play up a notch with ITTF-approved competition rubbers and a premium wood blade for competitive play. For intermediate to advanced-level players with solid skills, the JET400 is the pick. This premium paddle is engineered for the player looking to utilize all aspects of an all-around, dynamic play style. It allows for a more well-rounded yet aggressive game needed to conquer stiff competition.

This looks like a pretty solid entry-level bat for new table tennis players.

THE REVIEW

The Killerspin JET400 paddle is aimed at beginners and low-level competitive players. It actually has a lot of decent reviews on Amazon – so it must be a fairly good paddle.

The Killerspin Nitrx-4Z rubbers are a nice addition to this racket. They separate the JET400 from the cheaper Killerspin paddles and justify the increase in price. The blade is also thicker than the one used for the JET300. This should give the paddle some extra speed.

It’s still a control-oriented racket, though. It isn’t fast. The 1.8mm sponge and slow blade make sure this paddle is very easy to handle/control.

The JET400 is quite expensive at $50, but then again all Killerspin products carry premium price tags.

OTHER OPTIONS

If you are thinking about buying a Killerspin JET400 table tennis racket I would personally recommend going for the Palio Expert 2 instead – which is $10 cheaper. The Palio CJ8000 rubbers used on this racket are a million times better than the Killerspin ones.

Palio Expert 2 Table Tennis Racket Review Image

The wooden Palio Expert 2 blade is also much better quality and more similar to the professional blades you can buy individually. If you were to compare the Killerspin JET400 to the Palio Expert 2 side-by-side you would immediately be able to notice the difference between the two rackets. The Palio Expert 2 simply feels a lot better to play with.
