Butterfly have a new range of tables out for the 2015/16 season and I have to say that I’ve been really impressed by all the Butterfly Easifold table tennis tables.
Butterfly products are famously expensive and for as long as I can remember I’ve been recommending cheaper brands of table tennis table, such as the German brand Sponeta. However, it appears Butterfly have really focused on developing a decent range of value tables this time around and I’m predicting they will be very popular.
So, what’s on offer in the new Butterfly Easifold range. There are three models
- Butterfly Easifold 19
- Butterfly Easifold Deluxe 22
- Butterfly Easifold Outdoor
In this post, I’ll be highlighting the similarities and differences between the three tables and helping you choose the one that’s right for you. Fortunately, they are all great value!

Butterfly Easifold 19
The cheapest Butterfly Easifold table tennis table is the Easifold 19 model. The Easifold 19 has been around for years and the old version was fairly popular. As far as I can tell the upgrade is exactly the same – Butterfly have simply stuck their new logo and pink “corner bits” onto the old tables.
I always recommend that serious players go for a minimum table thickness of 19mm (some cheap tables are only 12mm or 15mm thick), so the basic Easifold model fits the bill in that sense.
These kinds of tables (that come in two halves, with four wheels per half) are super easy to assemble and move around, so that’s all good too.
My only concern is that it is a little bit flimsy. You can see from the photo that the undercarriage isn’t the chunkiest, so if you are planning on using the table a lot – perhaps in a club or a school – then it might not be the best option. For my experience, at least, no matter how careful you are things just seem to break in schools, a lot!
If you’re looking to buy a good table for use at home, though, then I reckon this is a fantastic cost-effective option from the leading manufacturer.

Unfortunately, if you’re in the US it is a fair bit more expensive. I don’t know why tables are always so much more expensive in the US than the UK (perhaps it’s something to do with shipping or import taxes) but the Butterfly Easifold 19 is $699.99 over there. That probably makes it too expensive for most recreational users. Strange.

Butterfly Easifold Deluxe 22
The Easifold Deluxe 22 is the table that I’m most excited about. Butterfly didn’t use to have a cheap 22mm table – the old range of Easifold models only had the 19mm one – so I can see this table becoming very popular with schools and clubs.
On first glance, it might appear to be identical to the Easifold 19, and it is very similar, but the key difference here is the introduction of the 22mm thich playing surface (which will give a noticeably better bounce) and the upgrade to the undercarriage. The Deluxe 22 will weight considerably more than the Easifold 19 – and in table tennis tables weight is very important. The heavier the table, the better it will play.
In the past 22mm Butterfly tables have been far too expensive for my liking, often around the £500 mark. What’s brilliant about the Easifold Deluxe 22 is that it’s only £349.99! That’s only £50 more than the Easifold 19. And it comes with FREE delivery.
Unfortunately, the Easifold Deluxe 22 table tennis table isn’t currently available in the US from either Amazon or Megaspin. I have no idea why because it is such a great well-priced table here in the UK. Maybe it will make its way over there soon!
Butterfly Easifold Outdoor
Buying an outdoor table tennis table can be a tricky decision. Outdoor tables are typically very different to indoor ones. They are made of completely different materials and therefore provide a completely different playing experience. Butterfly have been trying to close the gap between indoor and outdoor tables and have created the Easifold Outdoor.
Most outdoor tables have a playing surface made of aluminium and melamine, to stop them from deteriorating when left outside in the elements. The Easifold Outdoor is completely different.
The playing surface has a revolutionary 12mm COMPREG top, consisting of 11 layers of resin-treated plywood. This produces a consistent bounce and performance resembling a high quality indoor table, which is far superior to that offered by most outdoor tables.
The Easifold Outdoor doesn’t appear to be available in the UK. However, you can get one in the US from either Amazon or Megaspin.

Conclusion
Personally, I love the Easifold Deluxe 22 – especially the price. This is clearly a Chinese-made table tennis table, but you won’t find a better quality new table for under £350.
