One of the strengths we found on the Butterfly Compact Outdoor Table Tennis Table is the table top. A 12mm playing surface for an outdoor table is a great thickness. We found it gave consistent bounce throughout play. We still found the bounce to be on the slower side but in turn played with good height.

Ben talk’s a lot more about the importance of table thickness in his comprehensive article The Best Table Tennis Tables but, in short, competition tables are 25mm thick and you really need a table to be 19mm thick in order to get a “decent” bounce.

If you are just looking for a table to use for a bit of fun, recreational table tennis then getting the Butterfly Compact Outdoor Table Tennis Table would be a good choice. However, if you are used to playing on “proper” tables, or planning on learning how to play table tennis at a club or perhaps playing competitively, then a 19mm table might not meet your standards.

Seeing that this would make or break the deal as you would want the table to be held together well and the net to be of above average quality, we we’re disappointed in its performance. If you accidentally nudge the table while playing the clamps on the net could come loose. It didn’t happen ALL the time but it is one of the little things that annoyed us. Having to re-adjust the net every few minutes was no fun at all.

The table weighs about 190 pounds. Stored dimensions of the table are 73.5 inches high and 24.5 inches wide. It has a playback feature (meaning you can put half of the table up to hit against – if you want to).

The Butterfly Playback Rollaway Table Tennis Table has a great thickness to it. 19mm gives you a great bounce and playing on the table does not feel that slow at all. The top is protected by a heavy duty steel guard rail system that makes the table feel like it can last a while with you.

If you are just looking for a table to use for a bit of fun, recreational table tennis, and maybe a bit of training here and there, then getting the Butterfly Playback Rollaway Table Tennis Table would be a good choice. However, if you are used to playing on “proper” tables, or planning on learning how to play table tennis at a club or perhaps playing competitively then it might not be for you.

Construction

We found that the Butterfly Playback Rollaway Table Tennis Table has a very outdated design. Its legs are only 1 inch thick and are made of heavy steel. The folding system allows the net to stay attached to the table but in turn makes the table a lot bigger when folded up – taking up a lot more space than necessary. It also takes AGES to set up as there are a million parts on it.

It may be lacking in extra features and bells and whistles, but it delivers on the basics. The table may be very difficult to assemble, but once assembled it’s a good indoor table that should offer years of enjoyment for any entry level or recreational player.

The Butterfly Playback Rollaway Table Tennis Table will only set you back $470.99 on Amazon.com. It is a great priced table, by all means. The downside to this great price is the outdated design which should not affect the choice of entry level or recreational players. HOWEVER we would not recommend this table to anyone, really.

The reviews on Amazon.com have not been that good for this table. Here are some of the comments we read…

“After I received the item, Installation process is also painful. Some holes don’t match at all, you need to try very hard to align them together.”

We honestly would not recommend this table to you. It is outdated, hard to move around, takes up lots of storage and a pain to set up. Butterfly do make great tables, but this one at this date is just not worth it.

It is the ideal table top to place on your billiard table but we recommend that you have one that is up to 8 feet in length only. The table top weighs about 115 pounds and can be set up by just one person.

We are more than happy that Joola have provided a great net and post set with this table top. You will always hear “The Net makes the Table” from us, and this is no exception. The net posts clamp onto the table top tightly, but without damaging it, and holds the net with perfect tension. The net is also adjustable, which we would always want ours to be.

The Joola Conversion Table Tennis Top will set you off $330.46 on Amazon.com. This is a great price for any durable conversion table top. You get great value for money with a 15mm MDF table top, cushioning to protect the table you place it on and a great net system.

The Joola Conversion Table Tennis Top is a great conversion table that will fit into any game room or basement. It takes up almost no space when stored and is fairly easy to set up. We would recommend this conversion top to any recreational or novice play out there.

Construction

A great thing about the Joola Tour 2500 Indoor Table Tennis Table is the fact that it’s essentially two separate table halves that come together to form the full table. Each standalone half has its own built-in trundle system that allows it to be transported and stored separately. This dual undercarriage system makes the table very easy to maneuver and due to the 3-inch lockable casters, the table rolls smoothly and easily across most surfaces while weighing about 125 pounds each.

Professional Net

The posts are held in place by screw-on clamps that are made to prevent scratching the table. The net has a ring chain to adjust the tension. You want it just tight enough so it stands nicely upright. You can also use the net to level out the two halves of the table, which we found worked great.

The only weakness we saw on the Joola Tour 1800 Table Tennis Table would be the 18mm playing surface. Being 18mm it offers a true-er bounce than most table and is close to competition grade play, but you would need it to be a bit thicker for a more authentic experience.

If you are just looking for a table to use for a bit of fun, recreational table tennis, and maybe a bit of training here and there, then getting the Joola Tour 1800 Table Tennis Table would be a good choice. However, if you are used to playing on “proper” tables, or planning on learning how to play table tennis at a club or perhaps playing competitively, then a 18mm table might not meet your standards.

Construction

The Joola Tour 1800 Table Tennis Table is very similar to the Joola Tour 2500 in materials and features. The biggest difference being that it’s an 18mm (vs 25mm) thick playing surface and that the frame and undercarriage are made of a 40mm (vs 50mm) squared metal.

While it is somewhat lighter than the Joola Tour 2500 Indoor Table Tennis Table, the Joola Tour 1800 Table Tennis Table weighs in at a pretty hefty 226 pounds. It’s heavy enough to provide a good, stable playing surface without being so heavy that it’s exceedingly difficult to fold and move. The sturdy 1.5-inch frame and undercarriage are built with heavy-duty welded steel and will give the table a much longer lifespan than other competing table tennis tables.

The Joola Tour 1800 Table Tennis Table uses some of the best materials and has some of the best craftsmanship of any table in its price range. It would be a great choice for any recreational player.
