Should you consider getting one? In this review, we will give you our opinion on it and let you know of any better options.

Cornilleau Excell 2000

The Cornilleau Excell 2000 sells on Amazon.co.uk for £32.90. This puts it on the cheaper end of pre-made bats.

The Review

Facts

“The Excell 2000 Carbon PHS Performa 2 Table Tennis Bat integrates the Performa 2 rubber, 1.8mm sponge and a 5 plywood blade and features the Perforated Handle System (PHS) resulting in better energy transfer during the game. The concave handle of the bat together with the Efficient Curve top-sheet provide exceptional grip, while the Aero soft technology offers increased shock absorption. More explosive power is provided by the Carbon technology, whereas the Dynacell sponge delivers energy and sound. The Excell 2000 bat ensures enhanced stability due to the Opti feel technology and is ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) approved.” – Words from the Manufacturer.

The Bat is rated as follows: Spin 9, Speed 9, Control 6. It weighs approximately 155 grams.

Our Opinion

We find the Cornilleau Excell 2000 is less responsive to spin, both giving and receiving and the rubbers have a stiffer feel. The 1.8mm sponge is to blame for this. The bat suits a player who prefers a straighter approach to delivery with more emphasis upon directional play rather than relying more on spin. It is also a better defense against an opponent’s spin for the same reasons.

With the difficulty generating spin on the Cornilleau Excell 2000 we would recommend it more to beginner players than experienced ones. It is good for learning the basics and building a good foundation of table tennis experience and technique.

In conclusion, the Cornilleau Excell 2000 preference should be based on the use and knowledge of spin as a giver and receiver. For someone who likes to move the ball around accurately, it is a solid choice. For someone who relies on spin, it isn’t the best option.

Other Options

The Cornilleau Excell 2000 is a great choice for beginners who like to move their opponent around while being able to receive spin. With spin low on the scale for the bat we would recommend getting a better balanced one to engage in all training and to grow your skill set.

Instead, we recommend getting the Palio Expert 2. It is our favorite beginner racket and will provide you more playing time as you advance while not having to swap rackets. Have a look at our review here.

The DHS A4006 is a pen-hold bat that emphasizes spin over power. Should you consider buying one? What does the racket excel at besides spin? In this review, we hope to clear things up for you and help you make that choice.

DHS A4006

The DHS A4006 sells on Amazon.com for $28.39 and Amazon.co.uk for £18.87(roughly $23.00). This makes it one of the cheaper pen hold pre-made bats.

The Review

Facts

The DHS A4006 is a pen hold bat that features 7-ply pure wood, red pimples in and black pimples in. The front side rubber is Hurricane II and the back side is G888. It is advertised as a loop with quick-attack bat.

Our Opinion

We find the DHS A4006 is a solid pick if you are looking for the best value pen hold bat. For the £18.87(roughly $23.00) the bat performs great and really excels in spin.

It is comparable to other $100+ bats. The spin you get off it, when brushing properly, is tremendous. We would recommend the DHS A4006 to beginner OR intermediate pen holders out there. But getting used to the strong spin on the ball when coming off the bat takes some getting used to.

If your game is about control or power we wouldn’t recommend getting one. The bat’s power is truly spin and that you’ll get a lot of. Speed with the DHS A4006 can only be achieved with practiced technique. It is not a very forgiving bat and will help you learn to hit your shots perfectly.

Overall we would recommend the DHS A4006 to players seeking the best value-for-money pen hold bat.

Other Options

We find the DHS A4006 to be the best choice for pen holders out there. It is the best pre-made one that is widely available. You would have to buy a custom blade to get something better or different.

BUY THE RACKET

You can buy the DHS A4006 from Amazon and Amazon.co.uk.

The Caleson Professional is advertised as being a performance-level racket with ITTF approved rubbers. Should you consider getting one? What does the racket excel at? In this review, we hope to clear things up for you and help you make that choice.

Caleson Professional

The Caleson Professional sells on Amazon.com for $29.99. This puts it on the lower end of the pre-made rackets bracket.

The Review

Facts

“This high-tech racket made of Carbon fiber reinforced plies offers tremendous speed and spin Compared to an all-wood racket, Carbon fiber offers increased speed.” – Words from the Manufacturer

The Caleson Professional features ITTF approved rubbers for tournament or competitions use, carbon technology for increased speed and power and ergo grip technology.

The racket is rated as follows: Speed – 90, Spin – 95 and Control – 80. It weighs about 190 grams.

Our Opinion

We find the Caleson Professional to be a solid choice for the price you pay for it. $30.99 for an advanced-level racket is pretty amazing.

The racket weighs approximately 190 grams and this puts it on the heavier side, which could take some people a little more time to get used to. The speed and spin you can get out of the Caleson Professional, for what you shell out to own one, was beyond what we expected.

It can be compared to the Stiga Pro Carbon in the way it performs yet it comes in about $16 cheaper.

Overall the Caleson Professional is a solid choice for the advanced players out there. It will help you step up your speed and take your skills to the next level. It does, however, lack in control. Not being able to play drop shots or anything related to finesse easily is the only downside.

Other Options

The Caleson Professional is a great intermediate level racket that gives you great spin and speed. What it lacks in control can be made up with experience although we would recommend that you get a better quality racket for overall performance and durability.

If you want a more powerful racket that yields better overall performance you should take a look at the Palio Legend 2. A professional racket with great value. Read the full review here.

The Pasol 4 Star is advertised as an intermediate-level racket. Should you consider this racket? Why is it so cheap? In this review we hope to clear things up for you and help you make that choice.

Pasol 4 Star

The Pasol 4 Star sells on Amazon.com for $17.99 which is extremely cheap for 2 rackets. Intermediate to advanced players will find the racket to be on the heavier side with its 7-ply wooden blade. It is a well-rounded racket that performs decently but can take some getting used to.

The Review

Facts

Not a lot is known about the Pasol brand. The Pasol 4 Star is a Chinese manufactured racket targeting intermediate players. It has a thinner 1.5mm sponge as compared to the Pasol 6 Star’s 2mm one. Glued onto the blade are 1.5mm premium rubbers that provide consistent spin and great control.

Our Opinion

We find the Pasol 4 Star is a great value intermediate level racket. $17.99 for TWO rackets is unheard of. Its performance also surprised us. We were expecting a cheap racket that would be good for the casual player but it immediately proved otherwise.

It is on the heavier side of rackets and will take some getting used to if you play with a light racket. The spin and control offered by the 1.5mm sponge are decent. It only really lacks in speed which if you are an novice or intermediate player shouldn’t matter much.

Overall the Pasol 4 Star is great value for money and is a great choice for a cheaper racket that can still perform. We would recommend this to players who push and block a lot as the thinner sponge gives great control.

Other Options

The Pasol 4 Star is a decent racket and great choice for blockers and pushers. What it lacks in speed it gives you in control and spin. A great value novice to intermediate level racket. However, we all want a well-rounded racket and you won’t get that with this.

We recommend taking a look at the Palio Expert 2. It is our favorite beginner racket and will provide you more playing time as you advance while not having to swap rackets. Have a look at our review here. Or maybe the Palio Master 2 racket as it is the best all-rounder. Have a look at our review here.

The Mapol 4 Star is a beginner to intermediate grade racket that will give you great spin and control while playing. It has great value for money and is something you should consider if you want to upgrade your equipment.

Mapol 4 Star

The Mapol 4 Star sells on Amazon.com for $18.88. This is a great deal as you will get 2 rackets for the price of one! The racket does lean towards spin and control while lacking in speed. Novice players will find this great for practice as you get to improve your technical game and form before letting in the power.

The Review

Facts

The Mapol 4 Star is a heavier racket. Made of 7-ply wood the racket weighs about 205 grams. It comes with a 2mm sponge that performs consistently. The rubbers on it allow you to spin and brush balls with ease and the tackiness will last.

Our Opinion

We find the Mapol 4 Star to be a great racket for the price you pay to get it. Where else will you find a $9.44 ($18.88 for two) racket that can actually perform well? Although it is on the heavy side, being 205 grams, you can expect consistent bounce with a large sweet spot.

We would recommend the racket to beginners to improve on their spin and control. It excels in these fields and will help you hone your skills. Power is something that we find it lacks and if you are an aggressive offensive player it might not be for you.

For intermediate level players, we would recommend this racket because of its weight. Playing with the Mapol 4 Star takes some getting used to but will strengthen your wrist and arm.

Overall the Mapol 4 Star is a great racket and one we would recommend if you have spin and control in mind. Power players should stay away from this racket, though. After getting used to it the racket can take you quite far for what you pay.

Other Options

The Mapol 4 Star is definitely a solid choice and one we can recommend. However, if you are looking for an all around racket with power included it may not be the right choice for you.

Instead, we recommend getting the Palio Expert 2. It is our favorite beginner racket! It sells for quite a bit more than the Mapol 4 Star but you get a more balanced racket.

Buy The Racket

The Slyspin Rapture is a well-balanced table tennis racket for intermediate players who want to improve their play and crush competitors. While having good control and spin, this paddle also features a high-bounce sponge that allows throwing high-speed shots.

Slyspin Rapture

The Slyspin Rapture sells on Amazon.com for $29.95. The racket was created for beginner to intermediate players who want are serious about their game and want to improve. It is a well-rounded racket with an appealing price tag.

The Review

Facts

The Slyspin Rapture features a 6.0 mm (Lin + Ayous + Paulownia) blade with carbon technology, a high-quality poplar wood handle, an elastic sponge, premium rubber with excellent characteristics and comes with a racket bag.

The specifications of the racket (on a 1-10 scale) are – Speed 8, Spin 8 and Control 8. The blade is 5-ply that is heavier than the average racket.

Our Opinion

We find the Slyspin Rapture to be a decent priced racket that offers great all-around play. As said above the racket is on the heavier side and can take some getting used to. The racket fits snuggly in your hand and feels as durable as rackets twice it’s price. It would, by all means, be a great choice for anyone slightly experienced.

The only downside of the Slyspin Rapture is that the rubbers on it aren’t ITTF approved. This means you can’t buy the racket and use it for competitive play. This can be a deal breaker for some people as the point of getting a pre-made racket is the ability to use it from the box for recreational or competitive play.

Overall the racket is a great choice and one that we can say is great value for money. There have been few complaints about the racket and we certainly don’t have any, except for the rubbers on it.

Other Options

The Slyspin Rapture is a great overall racket and we would recommend it to any beginner or intermediate player. With great value for money, it definitely is a solid choice.

However, if you are looking for a more powerful racket that will last you longer as you improve your skills you should take a look at the Palio Legend 2. A professional racket with great value. Read the full review here.

The EastPoint Sports 3.0 table tennis racket is something you would come across if you are looking to get a lot of rackets for the office or a school.

EastPoint Sports 3.0

The EastPoint Sports 3.0 sells on Amazon.com for $4.10. This puts it on the very cheap side of premade rackets and affordable to buy in numbers. It is made for the casual player and not for training or improving your game.

The review

Facts

“Up your table tennis skills with the EastPoint Sports 3.0 Table Tennis Paddle! This paddle is great as an upgrade or replacement paddle for competitive or casual play. It features a high-tack rubber facing for outstanding spin and speed of the ball. You’ll be serving and spiking better than the competition! The sponge backing enables harder striking and offers superior control so that you can maintain your edge during the match. The black color of the facing is subtle yet stylish and is suitable for any table tennis environment.” – EastPoint Sports

Our Opinion

The EastPoint Sports 3.0 is not a well known racket and here is why – the racket has no quality to it. It performs for a casual racket but anything other than that you have a piece of wood with two rubbers stuck to it.

Here are a few things customers on Amazon.com had to say…

“After only 10 weeks of rare to intermittent use, the paddles disintegrated. The large flat panel is comprised of many sheets of thin wood and they delaminated. There is no residual structure to the paddle.”

“The rubber padding started peeling off these a few days after we got them.”

“Return window is one month. It’s exactly what it takes for it to get bad!”

We feel that the EastPoint Sports 3.0 could be a backup racket to your backup racket. We would not recommend it to anyone.

OTHER OPTIONS

The EastPoint Sports 3.0 is really just a cheap racket for casual players and won’t last you that long. What can you expect for $4.00.

We recommend you have a look at the Palio series as they have great rackets. The Palio Expert 2 is the best starter racket out there! Sure it is quite a ways more than the EastPoint Sports 3.0 but in return for you investment you get a quality racket that will last.

The Stiga Pure Color Advance Table tennis racket is an inexpensive, eye-catching paddle that is great for casual players that want to step up their game. It comes in four colors (green, pink, yellow and blue) which are great for friends and families who each want an easily identifiable racket.

Stiga Pure Color Advance

The Stiga Pure Color Advance sells on Amazon.com for $21.59 and Amazon.co.uk for £19.75 (Roughly $24.00). Stiga created this bat for recreational use and novice players. The Stiga Pure Color Advance is really more for looks than performance.

The Review

Facts

The Stiga Pure Color Advance features Stiga’s 3-star rubber. This is a low-grade rubber for Stiga paddles and while still capable of generating some spin, it does not excel at it in any way. Players will notice that the sponge is on the soft side, and this could take some adjustment for players that are used to playing with harder paddles. The soft sponge makes it a good racket for a defensive-minded player or someone who is really working on improving their ball placement.

The flared concave handle was created to be solid and comfortable with a shake hand grip. The paddle feels balanced in the hand even though it’s lightweight.

Our Opinion

We find the Stiga Pure Color Advance to be a purely a recreational racket that won’t be able to help you improve yourself as a table tennis player. The low-quality sponge lacks the speed and power you will need to hone your skills. Also, the rubbers on the racket have a hard time creating spin so expect to be hitting flat no-spin shots with it.

Overall the Stiga Pure Color Advance is a gimmicky racket for recreational use that offers little to no performance. People looking to buy this racket will be searching for style instead of playability.

Other Options

The Stiga Pure Color Advance is a recreational racket that we find to be just an eye-catcher with the different color schemes. The performance of the racket is mediocre and the rubbers on it won’t help you create spin at all. Don’t expect to improve while playing with the Stiga Pure Color Advance as you will plateau fairly quickly. We recommend investing in a higher quality foundation racket to last you longer.

Instead, we recommend getting the Palio Expert 2. It is our favorite beginner racket and will provide you more playing time as you advance while not having to swap rackets. It’s a bit more than the Stiga Pure Color Advance but has greater quality rubbers and sponge. Have a look at our review here.

The Stiga Supreme is one of many table tennis rackets made by Swedish company Stiga – one of the world’s leading table tennis brands. They have a popular range of five premade rackets that are also ITTF approved, which means they are able to be used in competitions.

Stiga Supreme

The Stiga Supreme is sold on Amazon.com for $42.97. This places it along with the Stiga Apex and Stiga Titan on the cheaper side of premade rackets. Stiga created this bat for novice players who have started getting serious about their game. It is a well-rounded bat with average performance.

The Stiga Supreme is the third fastest premade racket by Stiga with the Evolution and Pro Carbon in front of it.

The Review

Facts

The Stiga Supreme comes with a 2mm sponge, 6-ply extra light blade with tube technology, and Stiga’s unique Crystal Technology that hardens the surface of the blade resulting in increased speed.

The racket has Stiga’s “Future” rubber glued to the super lightweight 6-ply blade in an inverted fashion. This means the pimpled side of the rubber is glued to the rest of the paddle and smooth side is what contacts the ball. The Supreme is extremely lightweight and at only 4.6 ounces and this is very noticeable for players that are used to heavier paddles.

Our Opinion

The Stiga Supreme is definitely a leap forward compared to the Stiga Titan but we still find it lacks in performance. This rubber quite disappointing compared to the Premium grade rubbers of more expensive STIGA rackets. But what can you expect when buying a non-premium?

The weight, sponge and rubber combination are ideally for chopping, backspin, and service return as well as having good control. This makes it a decent choice for a defensive-minded player.

You can expect to have to change the rubbers on the Stiga Supreme pretty quickly if you want to continue improving your game. That racket itself is decent, but the rubbers are sub-par.

Other Options

The Stiga Supreme is a decent novice racket that will help you improve as a player. The performance of the racket is decent but the rubbers are a whole other story. Don’t expect to keep this racket that long, though. We recommend investing in a higher quality foundation racket to last you longer.

Instead, we recommend getting the Palio Expert 2. It is our favorite beginner racket and will provide you more playing time as you advance while not having to swap rackets. It’s also cheaper than the Stiga Supreme with greater quality rubber and sponge. Have a look at our review here.
